People are not entitled to Snap benefits in New Jersey. According to NJ law, unless specifically exempted, all SNAP participants must work or participate in a job program for at least 20 hours per week.

All non-disabled SNAP users age 18 to 50 who are single and unmarried are also subject to ABAWD time limits, which limit payments to 3 months over 36 months.

The minimum monthly SNAP benefit in New Jersey is $95. For instance, if New Jersey approves you for $23 in SNAP benefits, they will add a supplemental payment to make it $95.
